Lucky # 6
Cleveland’s music scene has never struggled to produce talented artists, and one band building momentum is CIIX (pronounced like the number “six”).
Blending rock with subtle Americana and country influences, CIIX crafts a sound that feels both familiar and refreshing. There are moments that echo the warm, melodic songwriting of Fleetwood Mac, but with a heavier edge that keeps the band firmly planted in rock. It’s the kind of music that doesn’t demand your attention immediately it earns it the longer you listen.
Fronted by a commanding female vocalist covered in tattoos, CIIX has a stage presence that’s difficult to ignore. She carries the confidence of someone who’s lived every lyric, backed by a tight group of musicians that includes guitar, bass, drums, and keys. Every member contributes to a sound that feels full without becoming overproduced, allowing the songs to breathe while still packing plenty of energy.
Watching CIIX perform, it’s easy to see that they’re still in the early stages of their journey. They’re not filling arenas yet, but they have something many bands spend years chasing: authenticity. Their chemistry feels genuine, and the music never comes across as manufactured. Instead, it feels like a group of musicians creating the kind of songs they genuinely want to play.
That authenticity is exactly what makes them exciting to photograph. Whether it’s the intensity behind the microphone, the movement across the stage, or the quieter moments between songs, CIIX gives photographers plenty of opportunities to capture a performance that feels alive.
If you’re looking to discover a local band before they become much harder to catch in an intimate venue, now is the time.
CIIX will take the stage at The Winchester in Lakewood, Ohio, on Thursday, July 16. Whether you’re already a fan of Cleveland’s local music scene or simply looking for your next favorite band, they’re worth checking out.
Sometimes the best bands are the ones you discover before everyone else does.
